Purpose of The Dads' Club 

The Dads' Club is an informal group of guys brought together socially in order to enhance our children’s experience at WashingtonSchool.  The Dads “help out” with physical repairs/improvements both in and around the school by utilizing our manpower and professional resources.  The Dads also encourage student/family camaraderie and school involvement by hosting several social events.  Our motto again this year is, “for the good of our kids.”

Organization

There are no formal titles within the Dads Club.  Tony Brown, Brian Beswick and Noah Cohen will co-lead the group for the purpose of setting meetings and agendas, as well as communicating with all the Dads, Washington families, and Ms. Eastman, the school’s principal.  Those who are at the meetings will determine the course of upcoming activities, events and school projects by a “show of hands.”  Everyone is encouraged to participate and take the lead on different activities and projects during the year.

School Projects

At the beginning of the school year, the principal will sit down with the teachers and ask for a wish list of projects, purchases, and repairs for their classrooms.  The Dads' Club will review each of the requests and determine which items to take on.     

Events

Scheduled events include the Spaghetti Feed & Dance, Pancake Breakfast, Mom’s Night Out, Dads' Club Wine Auction, Washington Day at a S.F. Giants game, and the big Spring Dinner Dance.  We will charge admission at the Spaghetti Feed & the Spring Dance.  We welcome any ideas for new events or suggestions for the proposed events.  Finally, for those Dads who participate throughout the year, we will again hold our big Dads' Club “end of the year party.”  It’s a great way to say thank the Dads for their involvement.

Final Thoughts

Always feel free to share your thoughts concerning the direction, goals, events and projects proposed for this year’s Dads' Club.  We work as team, vote as a team, and socialize as a team.
